OK Chad gave me the insight on how to get the native Designer Client TCP/IP Monitor working

Change the setendpoint in my web consumer agent from 'http://w.x.y.z:14014/SM/7/ws' to 'http://LocalHost:9081/SM/7/ws'

set--> Proxy configuration: localhost:14014

Within the TCIP/IP Monitor set up two Monitors:-

Local Monitoring: Port 9081

Host Name: LocalHost
Port: 9081
Type: HTTP
Timeout (in ...) 0
ticked Start monitor automatically

&

Local Monitoring: Port 14014

Host Name: W.X.Y.Z
Port: 14014
Type: HTTP
Timeout (in ...) 0
ticked Start monitor automatically
